Rob Wilson commissioned to capture this year’s Ashes

One of our members has been commissioned by Lancashire County Cricket Club as their official artist capturing this year’s Invest

The club’s multi-million pound redevelopment at Emirates Old Trafford is among the five UK venues to host to this year’s Ashes.
Rob Wilson, who is also a member of the prestigious Peak District Artisans, has been invited to produce a range of commemorative paintings to celebrate this historic event. Capturing the series, Rob will be overlooking the ground based in the state of the art Players and Media Centre at the heart of the World’s press. Here he will capture the feverish atmosphere in his paintings as the Test unfolds.
Initiated by one of Manchester’s newest gallery, Contemporary Six – The Gallery where Rob’s work will be exhibited following the event, this exciting opportunity will see Rob create a collection of work combining his love of old and new architecture. The range will show the redeveloped pavilion adjacent to The Point, which was built in 2010.
Speaking of the commission Rob said: “I am delighted to be invited to capture this momentous event. It’s great to be working with the team at LCCC and already I’m thoroughly enjoying working on this project.”
The original series, which will be signed by the players will be exhibited at the ground during the 3rd Test which start at Emirates Old Trafford on August 1st. From 15 August the exhibition will be on display and available to purchase from Contemporary Six- The Gallery.
Rob will also exhibit his work at this year’s award-winning Peak District Art Fair in July, along with his fellow members of the Peak District Artisans.
